How to Have an Abundance Mindset

And why it will change your life like magic.

Abundance is not something we acquire, it is something we tune into. — Wayne Dyer

What does it mean to have an abundance mindest

In life there is scarcity and there is abundance. In the simplest terms, scarcity meaning there is never enough and abundance meaning there is more than enough.

On the surface level, one might not give much thought to these two concepts and why it’s important to be mindful of them. But if you dig a little deeper, you’ll see that it truly matters what you believe to be true.

Do you have more than enough in life? Or are you in a constant state of fearing that there is never enough? Never enough time. Never enough work. Never enough money.

If you think your thoughts aren’t creating your reality, you may be wrong. If you struggle to find peace in your life and live in fear of money, isn’t it worth exploring that there may be a better way?

An abundance mindset is believing that what you need will be available to you when you need it. You don’t fear where your resources will come from because you know they will be there. And quite frankly, if they aren’t there, then you probably don’t really need it.

Living in abundance means that you are grateful for every little thing you have. You give freely with joy knowing what you give will come back to you. But this is not why you give. You give because you live in a state of, “I have plenty. There is always enough.”

No fear. No anxiety. No worry. Just peace knowing there will always be enough.

It’s about letting go of what you can’t control and submitting to the universe. Putting your faith in the fact that, if you do the work and put your focus into what you can control, the pay off will come.

Abundance. There is always enough.

Why fear and worry do not serve you

This year has been a whirlwind of extreme growth and change for me and my family. We have started new chapters in several different areas and, I’m not going to lie, it can be a little scary at times.

My daughter was invited to play at Carnegie Hall in New York this spring. Of course, we are beyond thrilled and extremely proud of her. But after the initial excitement wore off, we were left with the startling realization that this is going to cost a lot of money.

My husband announced very early on he would not be paying for it, as the money just isn’t there. He lives with a scarcity mindset. Constant fear of money rules his thoughts. He has a good job and plenty of resources. There is always enough. To him, however, there is never enough and he hates to see his money go.

Can you see how this is robbing him of his joy?

He has already announced that he isn’t going to pay for this trip and he still stresses over how much it is going to cost.

I, on the other hand, am submitting to my creator. The money will be there. The trip will go on unhitched. We are going to have an amazing time.

Anytime I start to stress about life and events coming up that require a lot from me, this is what I remind myself. It’s all going to be ok.

I still do the work that is needed. But I don’t stress about it anymore; I know that it’s all going to happen whether I stress or not. The difference is, when I stress about it, I don’t enjoy the process.

Fear and worry are not problem solving tactics. They actually distract you from real solutions.

Fear and worry do not serve you, they merely give you the illusion that you are doing something about your “problem”. Trust me, you aren’t.

If you want to solve your problems, focus on the abundance of solutions. Do not focus on the problem. The more you focus on solutions, the more solutions you’ll have. In contrast, the more you focus you your problems, the more problems you have.

It’s simple. Fear and worry do not serve you.

Why having an abundance mindset will change your life

Gratitude is everything.

Remember when we were kids, if we were receiving a gift, we were expected to be grateful for it whether it’s what we wanted or not. And in the event we decided to act like spoiled brats, we were reprimanded.

“If you’re going to act that way then you won’t get anything at all!”

You may not have been aware at the time, but this was a valuable lesson to be learned. If you don’t show up for your life with gratitude, then you aren’t aligning yourself with our creator to receive what you desire.

We are a part of the universe. We are all connected. There is energy and frequencies that we are constantly sending out and receiving.

When you operate in a state of fear and anxiety, well, that is the signal you are sending out. What do you think you are going to get back?

When you operate from love and faith, well, this is when you align yourself to receive blessings in abundance. The easiest way to get here, is by being grateful.

Close your eyes and think about all you have. Not what you are lacking. Think about everything in your life that you are so happy to have. Your health. Your family. Your friends. Even material things are ok to think about. Be grateful for the life you have, even if it’s not the life you want right now.

Keep being grateful for those things every single day.

Even when you’re having a bad day and things aren’t going your way, focus on what you are grateful for.

And when a problem arises. Fight the urge to worry and just keep the focus on everything you have to be grateful for. Be open to the solutions that you know will come. I promise you, it will always be ok.

  • You may get a job opportunity pop up from the unexpected at just the right time.
  • You may get a phone call out of the blue from a friend that owes you money and wanted to pay you back.
  • You may get a random check in the mail from somewhere you didn’t know owed you money.
  • You may get a raise unexpectedly.
  • Or you may get a revolutionary idea that you decide to act on and it totally changes your life.

There are so many ways that the universe shows up for us when we align ourselves to receive in gratitude. This doesn’t mean that we sit around doing nothing. We do the work and the universe shows up. It’s not magic but, it kind of feels like it.

Imagine what that could do for your life. Living everyday in gratitude. Imagine how much happier you could be if you give up what’s beyond your control.

Give up the fear of not having enough. Give up the anxiety of where will it come from. Just give it all up and trust that if you put in the work, you will have everything you need.

How to adopt an abundance mindset

Step 1

Be mindful of your thoughts, words, and actions. It’s easy to slip into habits when you aren’t paying attention. If you want to change how you think, you have to practice mindfulness.

You have to be aware of how you are reacting. How you are thinking. What you are saying. If it isn’t love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, or self control, then it isn’t going to serve you well.

Step 2

Keep a journal and reflect on what you are grateful for. Not just what you already have but what you will receive.

In my case, I thank God every day for the means to be able to afford the trip to Carnegie Hall. We don’t have the money yet, but it’s slowly starting to come in, and I know that we will have it. So for that, I am so grateful!

Step 3

Give back to your community. If you really want to be blessed beyond measure, help someone that has less than you. I can’t tell you how rewarding this is.

I’m a hospice nurse so I get to be that person to many people. I don’t do it for anything in return, I genuinely help because I care. But I know that what comes around, goes around. And, without a doubt, my life is better for it.

Step 4

Be open to possibilities and opportunities. You never know where one might take you. Get out and connect with people.

The universe has a way of bringing the right people into our lives at the right time, but it’s our job to get out of the house so that we can go meet them. Nobody is going to come knocking on your door looking to present an opportunity to you.

Get out of your comfort zone and put in the work that needs to be done.

Living your life with an abundance mindset is the most freeing way to live. It doesn’t make you exempt from pain and suffering, but it definitely helps ease any negativity.

If you want to live your life in perpetual worry, that is certainly your right. I’m simply suggesting, there might be a better way. Just think about it. And if it works for you, pass it along. Let’s spread the message like wildfire. Fear has no place here.

Until next time, Xoxo
