My top 10 failures in the last 5 years plus one bonus failure.

I’m not going to lie, this is not going to be easy to write. I started this article last month, and when I first had the idea for it I had a much more positive mindset. I felt good about where my failures had landed me.

I wanted to write about all the times I had failed in front of people but still had the courage to get back up again. It was intended to be a spark of hope for anyone like me who struggles to keep going.

I wrote down the concept in my notes and made a…

Life and Death

From someone who attended two deaths in the last 12 hours

For the last 14 years, I have devoted the majority of my waking hours to ‘helping people die comfortably’, as my family likes to define it.

I’m a nurse, but I’m not the kind of nurse that gets celebrated on billboard signs or even the type that gets 10% off my meals at select restaurants.

I don’t save lives. I can count on one hand how many times I’ve performed CPR in a real-life setting. All of which ended in the recipient ultimately passing away.

No. I’m no hero.

I’m a hospice nurse.

I don’t say this to undermine what…

Christianity and Relationships

Do it anyway

When the disciples asked Jesus which of the commandments was the greatest, his reply was this:

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ — Matthew 22:37–39

As Christians, we are called to love and forgive. That is clear from the scriptures.

But that doesn't mean that we are called to be doormats.

Jesus didn’t say love your neighbor more than yourself, he said love your neighbor as yourself. …

Encouragement and Motivation

Even if it’s something you already know, it’s nice to hear it from someone else

My husband calls me every day at 11 am when he gets off work.

His excitement related to leaving work is usually evident in his jovial and chipper tone.

Today was no exception.

I can’t help but feel a little bitter as I sit behind my computer screen with 6 hours of work remaining.

He is very keen on when I’m feeling down. He’s had a lot of practice recognizing the subtle differences in my tone.

Today was no exception.

He picked up on my melancholy mood immediately and knew exactly where it was stemming from.

He knows I hate…

Love and Marriage

I already know people aren’t going to like it. It’s very controversial these days, but you know what…

Photo of myself and my husband in Cabo San Lucas May 2021

16 years ago, I met a man in a bar and fell insanely in love with him.

He was handsome, fun, and had killer dance moves.

We got along great from the moment we started talking. Just two young kids looking to escape the pressures and sorrows of adulthood in the company of each other.

Neither one of us was in any kind of position to be dating.

I was 20 years old, my dad had been killed 2 months prior, and I had just ended a 3-year relationship with my high school sweetheart.

He was 22 years old, had…

5 things I wish I had been prepared for before going viral

I started writing seriously at the end of 2019.

My daughter’s band had been invited to play at Carnegie Hall in NY for the spring of 2020.

The trip was very expensive and Christmas was right around the corner.

We had no extra money and my husband was not happy about having to find a way to pay for the extra expense.

It was up to me and my daughter to raise the extra money.

At that time, I had just started blogging on WordPress and I was researching ways to improve my success when I came across Medium.

Today I’m sharing the habits that changed my life that I still use to this day.

The other night I sat on my couch with my youngest daughter looking through old pictures.

As we flipped through the years of memorabilia, my 9-year-old daughter said something that I will never forget.

She said as she looked at a picture from several years ago, “You are so much more beautiful now. Not that you weren’t beautiful here.”

She held up the picture so I could see.

“You’re just so much healthier now. Your skin is healthier, your hair is healthier, your heart…

I have 81 stories in my drafts.

81 half-written stories just sitting there.

I have countless half-written books and even more half-read books.

I’m infamous for buying planners and notebooks to get organized and never using them.

It pains me to admit this to you. It is the equivalent of Monica's closet. A dirty little secret that I really don’t want anyone to know about.

I am a quitter.

I quit on more things than I can even keep track of.

As soon as anything gets a little uncomfortable, I quit.

I’m sure by now, you’ve heard of the latest nefarious push from the left-sided woke elites. Sure, they want you to believe that it’s all in good fun and it’s harmless.

But don’t fall into this trap the enemy has so meticulously laid out for all his unsuspecting victims. It’s not in good fun and it is very much harmful to partake in such blatant worship of godlessness.

Be well balanced and always alert, because your enemy, the devil, roams around incessantly, like a roaring lion looking for its prey to…

There is bad news and there is good news… which would you like first?

The story of the world is ongoing. There is a beginning, a middle, and an end. We are currently nearing the end of this story.

If that scares you more than it excites you, then you need to keep reading.

I used to believe that we were all living our lives individually and unconnected. That our individual stories were just that… individual and isolated incidences that were insignificant chance happenings.

That could not be further from the truth.

Once I started to look into the history…
